A little umm...plain and boring, liven it up with maybe a banner, and/or a bg Layout of it is basic, but to be honest, basic is good, cos then people find there way around alot easier.. I see you dont have Extreme Data on you forum's list lol Well, because it needs images to liven it up, my overall rate would be: 3/10

Because of the way the iFrame is layed out at the moment a bg isn't possible. But I do plan on eventually making it all PHP when I get another spare few hours. Maybe then I'll consider a background. It's hard to have a banner when you don't even have a name. That's why I've used the image randomizer instead for the random google-type images. Any suggestions of what images exactly? I'm not much of a designer so have no idea where you think extra images should to be included.

Just a banner and a bg would be good.. How about just having a blank banner? Then when you think of a name, add the text to the banner or get someone to Just start with a banner, then a bg (when u can) and how about maybe some menu buttons instead of it just being hyper links? I just tried deleting your forum lol...But it didnt let me

Didn't let you? That's a pity I don't like the idea of a blank banner personnaly, it seems a bit plain and boring Any suggestions for a background though? Color, Design, Style etc.? And does anyone else want to add their thoughts?

For a bg, just keep it simpl, have the type of banner which SSD has. Those kind of bgs are very simple, but make it look good Dont do a dark bg though, i dont think dark colored sites are good, dark forums yes, dark websites nooo...

No offence, but I don't like any dark colored sites, forum or website I prefer things to be nice and bright. Anyway, I've now fixed it up so that it uses a PHP include rather than a dodgy iFrame. Any other suggestions, opinions, thoughts or random comments? Snakeair?

Ross, i think the date on your main page should be centered. Might look a little more professional that way. That image above the quick links box is too big and overlapping into the white background. I'm viewing the site in IE. Dunno if FF is different when viewing your site. How come i see my IP address above the google stuff? You collecting IP's to take over the world?
I think some people may not like seeing there IP address on a website when they view/search around on it. How bout put up a Title above the date. Make it say Ross's gadgets or something. Get creative in designing it. I'm sure you'll think of some stuff while watching t.v. Can you code your own counter for the website? You know under that buggish image it says click any link to begine? Might want to say click any Quick link to begin searching the website or something like that. Ok, i suck at this. My first time rating something.

I've been working on making the counter. Since I started knowing hardly any PHP it's been bit of a challenge. How about I replace the IP with the counter? The IP was a space filler really, the table looked unbalanced without it and now I have something to replace it with. I'm going to redo the main content layout as soon as I test that what I plan to do will work. I'm going to try and make it so that you don't need to reload the entire page to view each section. For example, when you click on 'Profile', instead of the clock, menu, adverts and content etc refreshing, only the content bit in the middle will change. And I'll pull down the nav menu a bit while I'm there. Looks like I've got my work cut out tonight.

Good luck and remember if you need help i can send the woobug over to your site. Sounds like you got some major work to do. Don't pull out your hair while coding. Remember to keep the colors light and easy on the eyes. It's the content that is important and not the colors.

I've managed to get it working how I wanted now. It's a bit late to go modifying the actual main version of the site though in case I mess it up. So I'll be doing that sometime tomorrow. But the counter is now installed and I've added an 'Updates' page. I also added to the mini-bio a bit. Oh, and I've put in a password generator under the 'Codes' page. It's much better than Bradleys

*can't believe he hasn't commented yet* Open the page in Firefox. If you're going to use div's to position stuff I'd recommend you go all the way and drop tables except for tabular data. For the menu use a unordered list. How about you fix the CSS Errors and the XHTML Errors (judging by the namespace you're using you're trying to use XHTML). It's look much nicer if you had an actual banner instead of a bunch of random images.

I'm going to worry about the validation stuff once it's finished. I might take a look at some of them tomorrow though, if I get time. I usually don't do it 'til the end of a project though. What's the issue with firefox? You're the second person to mention that now yet it appears to work fine for me. Am I missing something obvious? Where have I used an excess table? I tried to use divs as much as possible but there were some bits that (from what I could see) could only be done in tables The menu is supposed to have clickable cells but they don't seem to be appearing in firefox. In fact, I've just seen all the firefox issues with the menu. That'll be my next task then And finally, I will get a banner image, when I have something to put in it. I don't like blank banners (worse than random images) and I'm yet to get a name. Other than that, thanks for the feedback

Fix validation errors as they appear can fix other problems. But usually one with big errors. There's a horozontal scroll bar in FF because of the way you positioned the div's. Start reading this: www.alistapart.com/ It's an awesome place to find out how to do, just about everything. I could easily make the home page without tables. The menu would be a good place to use unordered lists and a class (for the title).
