How many of you use or have used Linux? I've been playing with Fedora Core 3 recently. I know nothing. Hopefully I'll have learned something by the end of the week. My plan is to setup an old computer of mine running FC3 as a print/DHCP (to assign IPs on the LAN)/RADIS (to authenticate wireless connections on LAN) server. I laughed when I restarted it after fixing the network card and it said there were 255 updates available.

Wow only 255 updates. lol
At my job, the department where they build servers for customers they install and configure Linux. (according to the ticket) I've been trying to let one of the workers let me work with them for one day to learn a little bit. Trying to convince my boss is another story. Maybe when the work load dies down I'll get that chance.
Good luck with your plan.
(i work at a computer company but we don't sell computer/parts to people, just do work for large companies threwout the US)

I have linux kind of running on my systems. I keep on messing up on the installs but thats the whole process of haing linux for the first time, just restart your system and then let the process of 15 hours to check all 33 f*cking million blocks of memory. I use Debian 3.0 "Wood" its a nice system. The first linux i used was Noppix from a bootable disc i checked out from the library, Well i gotta go to class now i am the library.

I use Knoppix, and I am anxiously wanting to test out Suse and Mandrake to see if it accomodates my needs.
But I do want to install Debian or Red hat or anything kind of non-bootable disc Linux on my spare hard-drive and make my computer a dual-boot system.

Wow only 255 updates. lol Actually, it was 258. I've only got 166 left to install. I have linux kind of running on my systems. I keep on messing up on the installs but thats the whole process of haing linux for the first time, just restart your system and then let the process of 15 hours to check all 33 f*cking million blocks of memory. I've never had to deal with any memory checks.... But I do want to install Debian or Red hat or anything kind of non-bootable disc Linux on my spare hard-drive and make my computer a dual-boot system. Why don't you? Scared?

The only thing that i am scared of when coming to duel-booting off of one hard drive is the partitioning part, because my friend has tried it a few times and accidently deleted his Windows portion of his hard drive.
And with the memory blocks, im not sure why it did it than, Because it said it had to check all its blocks or something to check if all the memory was not currupted.

I tired to do a dual boot off the same hard drive at first but couldn't get it to see the windows and linux partitions at the same time. So I just shuffled some files around and created a new parition on my other HD and put it on there. Works fine. They're should be a way to skip stupid tests like that. I had a media check test but I just selected the "skip" option.

I use Fedora Core 3 also. I was hoping to find me a distro where I would have to try and install it 7 times to get it to work. (*cough*tommy*cough*)
